Our Founding Director wanted to launch a new program earlier this year, but he didn’t have a team, an office, or enough funding to be able to start this program. A dream was all he had, a dream that could be achieved, but only if he had the money needed to accomplish it. 

 

Director Morris attempted to find the resources he needed over the course of the following months with the help of another. That person eventually became the director’s chief program advisor and the camp’s first Program Director.

 

After some discussion and some brainstorming, both of them agreed that this new program needed a brand, not just a name, but something that would last for years to come. Finally, a decision was made to build this new program based on Director Morris’ last name, hence the name Mauritius. It’s a Latin word for Morris that’s pronounced in English as Mauritius.
